Description

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) intends to issue a solicitation in support of its Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) for the 270� Medium Endurance Cutters to replace or remanufacture main diesel engines (model ALCO 18251F) and to provide other long lead time materials. Pursuant to FAR Part 6.302-1, there is only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.� Therefore, the USCG intends to send a solicitation directly to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM):� Fairbanks Morse, 701 White Avenue, Beloit, WI 53511- which is a large business.� The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 333611 with a size standard of 1,500 employees.� The Product Service Code is (PSC) is 1905. This notice does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue a RFP in the future. Proposals submitted based on this notice will not be accepted.� The intent of this notice is to disclose the USCG�s intent to send RFP number 70Z02320RAVS00400 to Fairbanks Morse without competition under the authority of the Competition in Contracting Act (CICA), i.e., 41 U.S.C. 2304 (d) (1) (B).� The noted items are commercial in nature; the USCG contemplates the award of a contract on a firm fixed basis at an estimated value of $50 million.
