Base Notice: Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope Notice Type: Sources Sought Posted Date: April 17, 2020 Classification Code: 66 Scientific Equipment and Services NAICS Code: 333314 Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing NOTICE INFORMATION Agency/Office: National Institutes of Health Location: National Institute on Drug Abuse Title: Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope Description(s): The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is the lead Federal Agency for research on mental illnesses. The mission of the NIMH is to transform the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses through basic and clinical research, paving the way for prevention, recovery, and cure. Imaging brain sections using confocal microscopy is an essential step for experiments that are being carried out by many basic science investigators within the NIMH intramural program. The SNIR supports this by managing shared equipment used by multiple investigators. The purpose of this acquisition is to upgrade the existing Nikon laser scanning confocal microscope system and procure a Nikon A1R-HD25, Optional 730nm Laser Unit, 40x Silcone Oil Lens, Pieso System and Nikon Motorized XY stage for Ti2-E microscope or equal laser scanning confocal microscope system so that acquisition is much faster, longer wavelength dyes such as Cy7 can be imaged, and high resolution can be obtained deeper into histological material. The salient physical, functional, or performance characteristics that equal products must meet are specified in the purchase description.
