- Description
- Request for Information Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility 3D Virtual Design Software Market Research Background: The need for rapid prototyping in a sustainable manner is a growing need across the apparel industry. 3D Virtual Design Software provides the ability to proof patterns for accuracy and rapidly test various design concepts. 3D software also provides a valuable visual tool for customers to aid in clear communication regarding garment intent while concurrently saving on time and cost. Description: NCTRF seeks to identify leaders in the industry of 3D virtual design software who have a focus on accurate virtual apparel prototyping to determine the best software for the needs of the organization. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT DIRECTLY FROM THE RESPONSE TO THE RFI/SOURCES SOUGHT, OR TO OTHERWISE PAY FOR INFORMATION RECEIVED IN RESPONSE TO THE RFI/SOURCES SOUGHT. Candidates: To respond to this RFI, interested candidates are asked to submit as many answers to the following questions (as applicable) to enable the Government to efficiently evaluate the software and see how its functions can be utilized and benefit NCTRF. Does the software provide virtual prototypes accurate to physical prototypes? Does the software work with Gerber AccuMark pattern data? Does the software work with Alvanon virtual avatars? a. If yes, base size only or fully graded bodies? b. If yes, do the Alvanon virtual avatars provide movement? 4. Do the virtual avatars built into the software provide movement? a. If yes, are the poses static or functional? b. If yes, can new movements be created? 5. Are pattern changes that are made in 2D reflected onto 3D in real time? 6. Is it possible to make pattern changes on 3D and have it reflected onto 2D pattern? 7. What file format is used to export dressed avatar? a. Does an individual receiving data need to have a 3D software? b. Does exported avatar have movement? 8. Does the software have the ability to import fabric specifications? 9. Can garments be layered onto avatar? 10. Is there a zipper, trim, and component library? 11. What are the equipment requirements to run this software, eg; operating system, computer requirements, storage, memory? 12. How often are new versions of software released? a. Are the new versions included in the price or is there an additional cost? Responses to questions and information regarding 3D virtual design software submitted by interested candidates are due by COB 15 MAY 2020 at NCTRF. Information will be handled as proprietary.
