Description
The Port Security Barrier (PSB) is effective only when it operated in accordance with design drawings.� Any barrier sections with fallen netting, sinking modules, or open gates will be clearly visible to hostile craft and an obvious point of attack to assess the material condition of the PSB system and its ability to meet its intended security function.� Failed components (e.g. broken connector or safety chain, missing pontoon, broken fence net) components showing a deteriorating condition likely leading to a failure (e.g. dredge hose connector with large tears in the cover exposing the connector chain, excessively frayed netting or wire rope, etc). The purpose of this project is to perform out of water maintenance of the port security barriers in an environment more suitable repairs and inspections. The contractor shall remove 32 modules, 5 anchors and 5 buoy and 1 marine fender located at Newport News Shipbuilder piers 5 and 6 in accordance with the General Arrangement Drawing Number 384390 Rev C and SUPSHIPNN Port Security Barrier (PSB-P Variant) Maintenance Manual. �Clean (i.e., pressure wash) PSB systems components, 32 PSB modules, 5 buoys, 5 anchors, 1 marine fender to remove sea growth and perform an inspection to identify components that require repair/replacement. Repair and replace componence as needed.� Reinstall the 32 modules, 5 anchors and 5 buoy and 1 marine fender located at Newport News Shipbuilder piers 5 and 6 in accordance with the General Arrangement Drawing Number 384390 Rev C and SUPSHIPNN Port Security Barrier (PSB-P Variant) Maintenance Manual.� The contractor will coordinated all removal and installation with Newport News Shipbuilding and Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, USN, Newport News (SUPSHIPNN) Code 159.
