Surface of training device that touches the pool bottom will be padded or treated in some way to not cause damage to pool bottom. The actuators, door handles, or exit releases must be similar to, or identical to the handles currently being used inside the METS (Modular Egress Training System) currently leased by Survival Systems. Must have a detachable (e.g. quick release) ten feet long bar or a rigid device with hand holds that the user can grasp and use in a hand-over-hand method to maintain contact while moving to the device underwater. Device must be positioned below the user when the trainer is in use. Device must support at least five different actuators, door handles, or exit releases to simulate the variety of window/door release mechanisms Air Force aircrew may encounter (e.g. UH-1 Pilot and rear exits, HH-60 Pilot and rear exits, CV-22 Pilot and rear exits). At least three actuators, door handles, or exit releases must be positioned on vertical panel. May have all actuators, door handles, or exit releases on vertical panel. Must have a simulated window/door-like opening similar in size to the doors/windows on the Egress Trainer/Actual aircraft that can be opened in order to get practice egressing the exit. Doors and windows must between 23.5 inches and 30 inches wide and between 23.5 inches and 30 inches tall. At least one actuator, door handle, or exit release activates the exit, but no more than three. Exit door/window must have hinged bottom to allow easy reset for repetitive use. Door/window exit must be positioned at a perpendicular angle to bottom of pool. Must have at least two stationary handles permanently positioned immediately adjacent to door/window to allow user to maintain reference and not float away while operating actuators, door handles, or exit releases. Must be able to withstand repeated exposure to chlorinated water with little to no corrosion or degradation to metals or plastics over a ten year time frame.
