Description

The purpose of this amendment is to incorporate the following information: Addendum 1: Description of required work DEFINITIONS: CLEAN All the contaminants that are not compatible with electricity must be eliminated. These contaminants include dust, dirt, moisture, water, rust or anything else that could reduce the efficiency of the electrical system. TIGHTEN Loose electrical connections are heat sources that reduce the efficiency of the electric system and ultimately result in the destruction of a portion or portions of the system. An energized alternating-current system is subject to constant vibration, and therefore, connections frequently become loose. LUBRICATE Direct-Acting, circuit breakers, relay-actuated power circuit breakers and switches contain many pivoting or sliding mechanical parts. These parts require lubrication and exercising so that they do not become inoperable because of nonuse. INSPECTED The ratings and settings of electrical devices are checked to assure that they are in accordance with good design and load changes. TEST & CALIBRATED The system or protective devices are subjected to abnormal electrical conditions; the operation of the system or devices is compared to the manufacturer's specifications and plant design requirements. DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT TESTED AND INSPECTED: LOW VOLTAGE POWER AIR CIRCUIT BREAKERS Visual and mechanical inspection. Check case for cracks and other defects Lubricate and clean the breaker. Perform ductor and insulation tests. Perform trip time tests on breaker time current devices. Exercise and operate the breaker to ensure proper operation. Infrared bus connections PRIMARY SWITCHES. Inspect for physical, electrical and mechanical condition Clean switches and check for tightness Perform insulation resistance testing Lubricate and clean the switch Perform contact resistance Infrared bus connections LIQUID FILLED TRANSFORMERS Visual and mechanical inspection/ inspect for leaks. Check tightness of accessible electrical connections. Draw an oil sample and perform Oil ASTM Tests and Dissolved Gas Analysis. Perform Moisture in Oil analysis. Perform Power Factor in Oil Analysis. Inspect all grounds Clean the transformer where accessible. Check for proper voltage and measure loads. Infrared bus connections where accessible SWITCHBOARDS/PANELBOARDS Inspect for physical, mechanical, and electrical condition Clean switchgear and check for tightness where applicable Perform insulation resistance testing on primary entrance switchgear Ground fault systems tested Infrared bus connections where accessible 6). MEDIUM VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BREAKERS Clean and lubricate Verify primary and secondary contact wipe Check cell fit and element alignment Check proper operation of cubicle shutters Measure contact resistance Perform insulation resistance Operate the breaker electrically and mechanically Visual and mechanical inspection 7). PROTECTIVE RELAYS Inspect relays for mechanical or moisture damage Perform all settings in accordance with set points Check alignment, connections, and tap plugs Perform pickup on each operating element Perform timing test at 2 points on the time dial curve Compare settings to coordination study when available
