- Description
- This notice announces the intent by the U.S. Army Medical Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA), 820 Chandler St, Fort Detrick, Maryland, 21702, to award a sole source contract to AMTI Force and Motion. under the statutory authority 13.501(a). This contract is for the purchase of 2 AccuPower Portable Force Platforms and software for use at the US Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM). This is an equipment purchase of 2 AccuPower Portable Force Platforms and software. Acquiring these new force platforms will enable research studies collecting quantitative data from individuals during movement and during standardized counter movement jumps. These systems will also enable generalizable data that can be integrated and compared to existing USARIEM study data, as current systems and subsystems of this type are in use by the USARIEM Biomechanics Team. The Biophysics and Biomedical Modeling Division (BBMD) of USARIEM does not currently own any ground force platforms; while several exist within the Military Performance Divisions (MPD) Biomechanics Team. In order to characterize movement and quantify accurate ground reaction forces two force platforms are needed. This data is needed for a pending study characterizing body composition in Marines during training; while also having a research grade measure (via these force platforms) to link individuals body measures to their physical performance. The Biomechanics Team of MPD have systems however, they are built into the infrastructure of their laboratory space and are in use for their own studies. New systems are needed to be portable for use in a remote field / lab station at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. The AccuPower Portable Force Platform is the only model that will allow us to maintain the validity of comparing future data collected to previous data reported, for comparison purposes between MPD and BBMD. An award will be issued on a sole source basis. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 339113 and the size standard is 1,000. This announcement fulfills the synopsis requirements under FAR 5.102(a)(6) and 5.203(a). USAMRAA intends to award a contract no sooner than 15 days after publishing this synopsis. This Special Request for Information is not a request for competitive quotes. Information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether a competitive procurement is in the best interest of the Government. If no written responses are received by the expiration date listed in this notice, which reflects at least fifteen (15) days after the publication of this notice, the award will be issued as sole source. All questions and responses concerning this notice shall be emailed to Mr. Christopher L. Cook at christopher.l.cook68.civ@mail.mil.
