THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) IS ISSUED SOLELY FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A SOLICITATION. THE SUBMISSION OF PRICING, CAPABILITIES FOR PLANNING PURPOSES, AND OTHER MARKET INFORMATION IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED AND ALLOWED UNDER THIS RFI IN ACCORDANCE WITH (IAW) FAR 15.201(e). This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB), Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSB), and all other businesses in this open market sources sought notification under NAICS 721110. Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After review of the responses to this sources sought synopsis, a solicitation announcement may be published in the FedBizOpps or GSA eBuy websites. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not considered adequate responses to the solicitation announcement. All interested offerors will have to respond to the solicitation announcement in addition to responding to this sources sought announcement. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network 22 Contracts Office, VA Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care, VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is seeking sources for a hospital teaching conference location who can provide GERIATRIC INTENSIVE UPDATE WITH BOARD REVIEW and PALLIATIVE MEDICINE CME COURSE from September 22-25, 2020. STATEMENT OF WORK 691-20-2-684-0051 The purpose of this Statement of Work is to outline the tasks and responsibilities of THE TEACHING FACILITY to meet the needs of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System for the VA Geriatric Scholars Program, which is a national VA workforce development project that is funded through from the VACO Office of Rural Health to the VACO Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care with the program s administrative Hubsite at the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System Geriatric Research Education Clinical Center (GRECC) in VISN 22. Description of Services: Provide state-of-the-art education in geriatrics and gerontology to 70 VA staff clinicians who are working in primary care in an intensive course that has been accredited for at least 30 hours of accredited continuing medical education. Dates: Inclusive dates for the work: September 22, 2020 September 25, 2020. The VA Geriatric Scholars Program is a national, high visibility workforce development educational program to improve primary care services to older Veterans, particularly in the rural VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC). The program is funded by the VA Offices of Rural Health (ORH) and the VA Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC); the program Hubsite is at the GLA Geriatric Research Education Clinical Center (GRECC), which delivers the education in collaboration with nine other GRECCs. Since its inception as a pilot program in 2008, the program has provided longitudinal educational experiences to over 800 VA employees working across all Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs), at over 370 VA facilities, and affecting a conservatively estimated over 300,000 Veterans. A mandatory component of the Geriatric Scholars Program is attendance at an intensive course in geriatrics; in addition, alumni of the Geriatric Scholars Program may select an elective option to attend a refresher intensive course in geriatrics to maintain knowledge and skills in state-of-the-art care. The VA Geriatric Scholars Program offers participants the option of selecting among 3 courses for the mandatory component: University of California, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, Wisconsin University and Harvard University. The courses are specified in the successful grant application; the courses are similar although there are some slight variations among the courses, including dates, locations and special topics. The availability of these courses and the overall program is announced by the VA Deputy Undersecretary for Health and Operations Management (DUSHOM) to the Network Directors who may nominate at least 5 clinicians per VISN to attend the program. We require expertise and specialized knowledge in geriatrics and gerontology that is only available at external academic centers of excellence that serve as one of the few national educational activities that provide intensive education and board review in geriatrics and gerontology. Funding is provided by a grant from the VA Offices of Rural Health and Geriatrics and Extended Care. If not, is your company considered small under a related NAICS code? Are you the manufacturer or distributor of the items being referenced above (or equivalent product/solution)? What is the manufacturing country of origin of these items? If you re a small business and you are an authorized distributor/reseller for the items identified above (or equivalent product/solution), do you alter; assemble; modify; the items requested in any way? If you do, state how and what is altered; assembled; modified? Does your company have an FSS contract with GSA or the NAC or are you a contract holder with NASA SEWP or any other federal contract? If so, please provide the contract type and number. If you are an FSS GSA/NAC or NASA SEWP contract holder or other federal contract holder, are the referenced items/solutions available on your schedule/contract? Please provide general pricing for your products/solutions for market research purposes. Please submit your capabilities in regard to the salient characteristics being provided and any information pertaining to brand name or equal to items to establish capabilities for planning purposes? Responses to this notice shall be submitted via email to John.harrison2@va.gov. Telephone responses shall not be accepted. Responses must be received no later than Thursday, April 09, 2020 at 11:00 AM PST. If a solicitation is issued it shall be announced later, and all interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the responses to this request for information. Responses to this notice are not a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation.
