Description
The Library of Congress (LOC)is seeking potential sources to repair its Digital Talking Book Machines (DTBM) through this Request for Information (RFI). These machines are used by the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) patrons. NLS estimates that there are approximately 17,000 units requiring repair currently. The annual number of machines requiring repair after the 17,000 units have been serviced is not known at this time. The LOC is seeking Contractors to repair the current backlog of machines as well as establish a continuing repair program on these devices. In order to facilitate market research for this service, the LOC is seeking capabilities statements from potential contractors. If you are interested in performing this work, please submit your company's capability statement with a focus on the potential work, or work that your company does that it substantively similar to these requirements. A draft statement of work as well as the publically available DTBM repair manual have been attached to this RFI. These are to help your company understand the requirements and the potential work at this time. Please submit your capability statements before the close of this announcement to the individual listed in the contact information. The LOC is also requesting interested offerors to provide questions or concerns they may have on the attached Statement of Work. Such comments will assist the LOC with its requirements document and make it more friendly and attractive to potential offerors. In addition, including a rough or of magnitude (not official quotes, just very rough and broad estimates) in your capability statements may help the Library better understand the market and potential pricing for these services. Please note: The Library is not seeking official quotes or proposals at this time. No contract shall be issued as a result of this RFI. This is for market research purposes only. Participation in this RFI is voluntary and no costs for participation will be reimbursed under any circumstances.
