- A determination not to compete this proposed contract was made pursuant to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b)(1), Soliciting from a Single Source. For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold, contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract deem only one source reasonably available. Tecan U.S., Inc., is the sole source for FluentControl and Biomedical Engineer Level I Training. The requirement is to provide training courses to allow the Federal DNA Database Unit (FDDU) and other DNA units to continue to receive high quantity training in order to continue the high throughput of DNA samples being submitted. FDDU currently uses (6) Tecans for the preparation and amplification of FDDU database samples. Tecans makes the systems and software and therefore provides the appropriate and required training on those products. The government intends to use FAR Part 12.6 and 13 to purchase the above listed item. The government contemplates a one year Purchase Order. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for these item is 811219, Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance. The size standard is $20,500,000. This notice of intent is not a formal solicitation or request for competitive proposals. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. No award will be made on the basis of quotations or offers received in response to this notice. Interested parties may submit their interest and capabilities no later than Friday, March 13, 2020 2:00 p.m. EDT. E-mail statements will be accepted but senders are responsible for ensuring the complete transmission and timely receipt. All inquiries shall be sent via e-mail to: Tammy T. The intent of this synopsis is for informational purposes only.
