- Description
- NASA/JSC has a requirement for Display and Control Unit (DCU) Toggle Switches for the Exploration Portable Life Support Subsystems. NASA intends to purchase the items from Sensata Technologies. Sensata Technologies is the original equipment manufacturer. Given the updates of the toggles for the highly constrained packaging DCU, their highly customized/specialized nature, and the fact that Sensata has unique qualifications to produce these switches. Over the past four years, the DCU packaging has evolved and the toggle switches developed by Sensata are the only known switches capable of meeting the interface/packaging requirements of the DCU. Sensatas toggle switches were updated and customized to fit inside the highly constrained package of the DCU. The equipment and documentation used in this contract includes updating the switch design to address issues/opportunities for improvement based on pre-DVT switch lessons learned, generating drawings and models of the update design, manufacturing the switches, testing the switches and performing various requirements verification activities. This acquisition is to procure Class 3 non-spaceflight hermetically sealed toggle switches for Exploration Mobility Unit Design Verification Test (DVT) testing. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact no later than 4:30 p.m. Central Time on March 6, 2020. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive bases. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition bases, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. The Center Ombudsman for this acquisition can be found at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/pub/pub_library/Omb.html .
