- This is a Sources Sought Notice and is for INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY.� This IS NOT a REQUEST for PROPOSALS, QUOTATIONS, or BIDS.� Responses to this request will not be returned.� Not responding to this sources sought does not preclude participation in any future and potential solicitation.� It is the intent of the Contracting Office to use this information for market research purposes only.� The survey is being conducted to determine the interest of industry within NAICS code 336611, and establish that there are adequate Large and/or Small Business (HUBZONE 8(a) or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business) contractors for providing the marine work described below.� The Government WILL NOT pay for the provision of any information, nor will it compensate any respondents for the development of any such information.� If a formal solicitation is released, it will be via the Beta.SAM website at www.beta.sam.gov The Marine Design Center of the Corps of Engineers intends to procure a new drift collection �vessel for the New York District of the Corps of Engineers. �The vessel operating area will be New York Harbor, together with the Atlantic Ocean coastal waters of New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut.� The vessel will be a steel-hulled twin screw catamaran with an aluminum deckhouse. Debris collection nets will be deployed between the catamaran hulls. The vessel will be designed for year round navigation including winter conditions with light first-year ice. Vessel Principal Characteristics are as follows: ����������� Length, molded���������� ����������� 148�-0� ����������� Breadth, molded�������� ����������� 39�-0� ����������� Depth, molded����������� to main deck� 15�-6� at midship ����������� Draft, design�� ����������������������� 9�-0� ����������� Lightship Displacement�������� 536 LT (approx.) Significant Equipment (GFE): The vessel will have a DC Bus, diesel-electric �plug-in hybrid� powering and propulsion system.� The system will be provided to the vessel builder as Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE).� System main power characteristics are as follows: Main generators� -� four diesel generator sets, approximately 550kW each Propulsion � Electric Motors, 2 x 1,500 BHP, direct shaft drive, with integral thrust bearings Battery Banks � 2 banks (one each hull) of Lithium Ion batteries with approx. 2,500 kWH of total daily energy storage. Major GFE components include: main generators, switchgear, inverters, variable speed drives, control and monitoring systems, propulsion motors, net lifting winches, battery banks, and battery charging system shore side interface. Significant Equipment (Shipyard/Builder Supply) include: 2 x electric drive tunnel Bow Thrusters, approximately 150 HP each Main A-frame crane, 22 ton capacity 2 x knuckle boom cranes, similar to Effer 440M-4S, with boom tip grapples,� Propellers and shafting Steering and rudders The vessel, including the hybrid powering system, shall be certificated to USCG Subchapter I for Cargo & Miscellaneous Vessels, and shall be Classed by the American Bureau of Shipping, including Load Line issuance. The Shipyard Contractor shall be responsible for coordinating and integrating with the GFE supplier for the proper installation, start-up and testing of the GFE. The vessel shall be delivered to the New York District of the Corps of Engineers Caven Point Marine Terminal located in New York Harbor at Jersey City. The Government is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to identify resources available to build this vessel. � All interested business concerns for this requirement may submit the following: Company name DUNS number Type of business concern (small business, large business, etc.) Years in business Proof of bonding capability Statement of capability and qualifications of the organization to perform the requirement. Statement of capability and qualifications regarding the construction of diesel-electric vessels.� Please address how electrical and control system work is accomplished (in-house or subcontractor) and direct experiences with diesel-electric and battery hybrid vessels. List of similar projects worked on over the past 5 years and services provided on those projects. If applicable, please include steel hull catamaran, diesel-electric and battery hybrid projects.
