Description
NOTICE OF INTENT FOR BRAND NAME ONLY The Office of Acquisition and Agreements Management (OAAM), Acquisition Management Division (AMD) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), on behalf of the Office of Facilities and Property Management (OFPM), intends to negotiate on a brand name only basis, under the authority of FAR 13, with Modern Design & Site Furnishings of Cream Ridge, NJ, to acquire two each Aureo Velo P/N AE-V310-02-SS Bicycle Shelters as manufactured by mmcite.com. The NAICS code for this requirement is 423210 with a small business size standard of 100 employees. Sole source determination is based on the following: Based on extensive market research for available bus and bike shelters conducted by the NIST Architectural Design Review Board, the Aureo line of Bus and Bike shelters as manufactured by mmcite.com was selected for its unique strength, durability, functionality and aesthetics. Other products did not offer suitable design that would be able to both complement the unique architecture of the NIST campus historic district and provide the durability and strength required for our setting. As an eligible National Register Historic District, all proposed new designs must meet the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Structures and the approval of the Federal Preservation Officer under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (and as amended). The clean line of the minimalist stainless steel framed glazed structures has been employed in historic districts and campuses worldwide. Employing laminated glass, the transparent wall and ceiling panels do not discolor, fog or degrade over time the way most commonly employee polycarbonate does. These bike shelters must be selected from the same manufacturer of the recently installed campus bus stop shelters for visual continuity within the historic district, as well as the economy of stocking any replacement components and fasteners. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by 02 March 2020 may be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
