Description
GENERAL: This is a non-personal services contract to provide actors to serve as standardized patients (SPs) for the Standardized Patient Program (SPP) at the Andersen Simulation Center (ASC). The Government shall not exercise any supervision or control over the contract service providers performing the services herein. Such contract service providers shall be accountable solely to the Contractor who, in turn, is responsible to the Government. Description of Services/Introduction: The Contractor shall provide all personnel to perform as SPs for the ASC as defined in this PWS. The Contractor will provide all work related resources except for those items specified as government furnished property and services. The Contractor shall perform to the standards in this contract. Background: The ASC supports Graduate Medical Education (GME), Nursing and Medic training at Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC) through Simulation Based medical training, while also supporting the training of health care professionals within the Western Region Medical Command. The goals of the ASC include promoting patient safety through realistic simulated training, providing training that enhances efficiency and competency, and increasing provider confidence and skill level. The use of SPs provides further opportunity for quality clinical skill development. Standardized patients have become a valuable tool in training health care professionals, including medical residents, nursing students, and psychology interns. SPs allow repeated practice for the trainee and minimizes harm to patients from hands-on training of high stakes clinical events. There is a need to develop a reliable pool of actors who are able to portray individuals in need of care in an accurate and standardized manner.
