Description
TECHNOLOGY LICENSING OPPORTUNITY - This is not a procurement. Secure Mobile Phone-based File Transfer System For mobile phone users that purchase and transfer secure content who are dissatisfied with the large amount of fraud in this area. This technology is a new file transfer system that provides significantly increased security through a very inexpensive and easy system. Opportunity: Idaho National Laboratory (INL), managed and operated by Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC (BEA), is offering the opportunity to enter into a license and/or collaborative research agreement to commercialize the Secure Mobile Phone-based File Transfer System. Overview: This distribution system is a system for securing financial transactions and person-to-person file sharing. Due to increased capabilities, many people are using mobile phones more and more to store and access sensitive information and private networks. Fraud from attacks on these capabilities result in billions of dollars in losses each year. This system is a very inexpensive and easy method for securing file transfer and transactions. It secures protected file purchasing and distribution. Description: Researchers at INL have developed a system to support distribution of controlled content, wherein a secure financial transaction and person-to-person file sharing can be performed. A secure computing module is configured for operable coupling to a host device. The module includes a processor for performing secure processing operations, a host interface for operably coupling the processor to the host device, and a memory operably coupled to the processor wherein the processor logically isolates at least some of the memory from access by the host device. The secure computing module is configured to generate a secure digital signature for a message, including financial transaction details. The module is also configured to direct the host device to communicate the financial transaction details and the secure digital signature to a financial organization associated with a user of the secure computing module and enable controlled content received through the host device. Benefits: Benefits include: Inexpensive Easy to implement Secure file transfer Secures protected file purchasing and distribution Allows any buyer of protected digital content to immediately become a legal and authorized reseller of that content Applications: Applications include: Mobile Device Financial Transactions Any person-to-person file sharing with controlled content Music, Video, and eBook downloads and sales Development Status: Experiments have been conducted, showing proof-of-concept.
