- Red River Army Depot (RRAD) in Texarkana, TX, is seeking sources related to the procurement, delivery, installation, commissioning, and training for an automatic vertical engine block honing machine with hole-to-hole automation and accessories. �The machine shall be capable of performing automated cylinder honing operations to both in-line and V block engine blocks to include Caterpillar (C7) and GM 6.5 liter.� Automated Cylinder Hone Specifications The vendor shall provide one (1) each automated CNC cylinder honing machine subject to the following minimum specifications: Capable of honing GM 6.5 liter engine blocks in accordance with NMWR 9-2815-274 Capable of honing Caterpillar C7 engine blocks in accordance with NMWR 9-2815-562 Control Method � CNC PC based touch screen with minimum 15� monitor Cylinder Transition Method � Automated � Shall not require operator interaction to change cylinders V-Block rotation method - Manual Cylinder Diameter Range � �Up to 7� minimum Workpiece length capacity � �Minimum 50� Stroking System � CNC Controlled Spindle stroke speed range � Variable 0-1500 inches per minute Minimum X axis travel � 38� Minimum Y axis travel � 5� Spindle rotation speed range � 1-400 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) Magnetic coolant system filtering with replaceable filter Cylinder length capacity � Minimum 17� Minimum stroke length (Z axis) � 19� Automatic lower crash protection system Spindle taper with quick change system Automatic honing stone retraction at end of cycle Automatic crosshatch angle system Automatic roughing and finishing load sensing system Automatic short stroke and dwell Automatic stone feed-out system Automatic plateau finish program Display units in minimum .001� resolution Operation in American standard units of measurement (inch read) Industrial PC with Windows based operating system 208-240 Volts, 60 Hz, 3 Phase Hone Accessories. The vendor shall provide the below listed accessories designed for operation with the hone system in order to facilitate in-line and V block honing. Manual indexable roll over fixture for small to medium size in-line and V Blocks up to 35� in overall length � One (1) each 2� small diameter main line bar for the manual indexable roll over fixture � One (1) each Synthetic coolant for use with diamond and CBN stones � Minimum ten (10) gallons Large precision heavy duty six (6) stone holder hone head assembly without sleeves and stone holders - Quick change for cylinders up to 13"" long � One (1) each Sleeve assembly, 3.500 - 4.670"" � One (1) each Stone Holder, 3.665 - 4.130"" set of six (6) Stone Holder, 3.915 - 4.380"" set of six (6) Stone Holder, 4.165 - 4.630"" set of six (6) Diamond stones, 270/325 grit, 3"" long set of six (6) Brushes, for Plateau Finishing, .550"" height, 3 1/2"" long set of four (4) � Include appropriate stone holder Stone Holder, 3.165 - 3.630"" set of four (4) � Include appropriate sleeve Stone Holder, 3.415 - 3.880"" set of four (4) � Include appropriate sleeve Stone Holder, 3.665 - 4.130"" set of four (4) � Include appropriate sleeve The vendor shall provide any other accessories required to facilitate honing of in-line and V block engine blocks to include Caterpillar (C7) and GM 6.5 liter in accordance with the NMWR hone standards referenced in this solicitation. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this Sources Sought or any follow-up information requests. No award will be made as a result of this Sources Sought. This Sources Sought is only to seek information from industry.
