Description
The contractor shall furnish items under this contract complying with the following minimum specifications: 1. ICE - CRUSHED AND BLOCK 1.1. Contractor shall manufacture ice from potable bacteria-free water having not less than 4/10 parts per million of residual chlorine and obtained from an official public water supply. 1.2. Contractor shall ensure that ice manufacturing and handling equipment does not come in contact with the floor or other sources of contamination. 1.3. Contractor shall maintain structures and equipment to prevent entrance of foreign material into the water during freezing. 1.4. Contractor shall properly sanitize core-sucking devices and drip tubes before entering the water in the tanks. 1.5. Contractor shall not permit the use of tobacco in any form in the tank room or ice storage room . 1.6. Contractor employees shall wear special footgear, such as rubber overshoes or boots, on the tank room floor. Contractor shall provide facilities for sanitizing footgear. Contractor shall make extra footgear available for use by inspection personnel. 1.7. Contractor shall permit only authorized persons on the tank room floor and in ice storage rooms. The contractor shall post signs to this effect at each entrance. 1.8. Contractor shall obtain an annual food handler's health certificate for manufacturing employees, which shall include a chest x-ray. 1.9. Contractor shall handle ice in such a manner as to minimize contamination from the time it is frozen until delivery at destination. Contractor shall individually wrap block ice in plastic. Contractor shall palletize ice products and shall wrap pallets in plastic or strap in such a manner to ensure no damage or loss at delivery point. 2. INSPECTION PROVISIONS: The government will perform veterinary inspections on all items to determine compliance with sanitary wholesomeness, and quality and quantity requirements stated or referenced in this contract. 3. DELIVER: 22 pound bags of crushed ice and 10 pound blocks of ice wrapped in plastic to support training in accordance with the estimated quantities, schedule and multiple delivery locations within the Fort Knox properties. The Contractor shall unload all items at each delivery location. 4. DELIVERY VEHICLES: Contractor shall deliver products under this contract by clean, closed, sanitary vehicles to prevent contamination of the products. Required to provide proper delivery equipment, such as a pallet jack, to ensure safe transport of pallets from truck to truck, if needed. US Army Cadet Command orders shall be moved from contractor truck to a government truck for transportation to training areas. All other deliveries shall be made to cold storage. 5. DELIVERY SCHEDULE: All deliveries shall be made within 24 hours of receipt of delivery order. 6. SANITARILY APPROVED SOURCES: The contractor shall furnish products under this contract which originate from an establishment appearing in the Directory of Sanitarily Approved Food Establishments for Armed Forces Procurement, as published by Headquarters, U.S. Army Veterinary Command.
