Description
Purpose The purpose of this inquiry is to determine your interest and qualifications as a possible Offeror to supply an automatic actuated fire suppression system for diesel fueled vehicles that is Factory Mutual (FM) 5970 approved. It is anticipated the Procurement Statement of Work will request subcontractor(s) to design and install the automatic actuated fire suppression system. Expected installation duration is 80 hours from start to Mechanical Completion during regular work week hours. The fire suppression system will be utilized on a specially designed vehicle, called the Shielded Canister Transporter (SCT). The SCT moves sealed canisters, one at a time, from one facility to storage buildings adjacent to the facility. This transporter, more than 18 feet tall, 25 feet long, and weighing 235,000 pounds, is a two-wheel drive vehicle powered by redundant Caterpillar 3208 normally aspirated diesel engines. Each engine compartment is not totally enclosed (open on the bottom), total volume is 144 cubic feet. It has a center module with a shielding cask, floor plug cavity, and associated canister lifting equipment. The transporter draws canisters up into the shielded cask for the short trip to the storage building. The fire suppression system is expected to have the following attributes: -Factory Mutual (FM) 5970 approval -Integration with existing vehicle systems (operates on 12V Dc power) The Scope of Work Includes: - Design and installation of the system � installation will be using site forces with oversite and direction from the contractor -Performance testing required by FM 5970 The Scope Excludes: -Periodic testing and Maintenance required to maintain code compliance The work will be performed to the Liquid Waste Contractor's quality program. Work will be performed in a greenfield environment and not require construction activities inside a Radiological Buffer Area (RBA). Information Requested: -Provide documentation to indicate your firm/team�s technical capability to perform the work scope. - Chemical constituents of suppressing agent -Demonstrate your firm/team�s past experience.
