- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB). It is a market research tool being used to determine the availability and adequacy of potential sources for planning purposes only. Responses to this notice are not considered as offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any information presented or the use of any such information. The Program Manager Aviation for Aircrew Systems (PMA202), and F/A-18 and EA-18G (PMA265), Patuxent River MD are seeking information regarding a potential upcoming requirement to modify, upgrade, or replace the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) currently installed in F/A-18 and EA-18G aircraft with a state-of-the-art, lightweight HMD system. Companies who have developed Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) systems or have HMD systems under development and have demonstrated history in HMD manufacturing are encouraged to participate. However, the government is open to discussing JHMCS modification, upgrade, or replacement with other companies with viable options. The intent of this potential requirement would be to provide no less capability than the existing JHMCS while significantly reducing the head, neck, and spine burden placed on the human. For planning purposes, the government is most interested in the following attributes of a solution, in priority order: 1. Reduction in weight required to be worn by the human (specifically on the head) 2. Increase in capability from existing JHMCS. 3. Scope, if any, of modifications required to the platform (zero modifications to the aircraft is most desired)
