Description

The United States Army, Army Contracting Command-Warren (ACC-WRN) is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) in support of the Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Ground Vehicle Systems Center, Materials Directorate. The intent of this request is to obtain information on how an interested contractor would produce, through an additive manufacturing process, a 48 inch outer diameter, 38 inch inner diameter, 3 inch thick ring made from Ti-6Al-4V, heat-treated to mechanical properties listed in MIL-DTL-46077, with an emphasis on Class II. Ballistic properties are not required. The desired deliverable for this RFI is a description of the product/process detailing; what type of additive process is used, the expected mechanical properties in significant directions (X,Y,Z) which could fulfill the requirements of MIL-DTL-46077 (excluding ballistics), and expected densities, especially for any powder process. Estimated part cost, tooling cost and lead time for initial development and test units and cost and lead times for production units shall be provided in responses to this RFI. Please refer to the more comprehensive list of response information which can be found further in document when preparing responses.THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS. This Request for Information (RFI) is for planning and informational purposes only and shall not be considered as a request for proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of contractor submission of responses to this RFI or the Government's use of such information. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any contractor's input resulting from this RFI. No contract will be awarded from this announcement and the data submitted in response to this RFI will not be returned. Information is being requested in order to make potential future requirements better for industry and the Government. Information provided should be limited to unclassified information.See attachment for response information.
