Description
VA San Diego Healthcare System will conduct a pre-solicitation site survey for Guest Wifi services throughout the medical center. The intent of the site survey is to familiarize potential vendors with the facility and requirements, as well as to gain knowledge of options and potential solutions to fulfill the requirements. Background: The US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking to provide Internet access to Veterans and their guests during their visit or stay at VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHCS). In addition, we are seeking the provision of Internet access for Contractors, visitors, and other guests of our facilities. The proposed Internet access should provide similar levels of service and access to those found in hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops. The network is not subject to the same security policies and restrictions required by Government and regular VA networks. Internet access for public buildings has become the normal standard of practice. It has been essential in the transitioning of soldiers returning from combat in the current Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts. Injuries from these conflicts have resulted in a generation of Veterans requiring a new set of needs, including long periods of treatment and rehabilitation during which they are relatively isolated in the care environment. Internet access has been seen as a vital part in dealing with those needs because it provides a way for these patients to remain in contact with family, friends, and comrades in their old units. It also provides a means for managing their finances and researching employment and/or educational opportunities online. Today s new Veterans tend to be more computer savvy and have greater expectations for readily available internet connectivity such as they have grown accustomed to at home or on active duty. The current system is dated with obsolete components. Additionally, the Medical Center has undergone renovations and guest wifi access is required in these areas. Existing and additional installations will be at the following locations BLDG # FLOOR AREA APPROX SQ FT NEW or EXISTING 1 (Main) basement Elevator lobby 200 new 1 (Main 1 core Elevator lobby 3136 existing 1 (Main) 1 NE Canteen + store 12000 existing 1 (Main) 1NE Prosthetics waiting room 270 existing 1 (Main) 1NE PT + podiatry waiting room 870 existing 1 (Main) 1SE Patient classroom + library 1600 existing 1 (Main) 1SE Pharmacy waiting 400 existing 1 (Main) 1SE Main lobby 3000 existing 1 (Main) 1SE Member services waiting room 400 existing 1 (Main) 1SW Audiology waiting room 160 new 1 (Main) 1SW Emergency Department waiting 480 existing 1 (Main) 1SW Specialty clinics waiting 1650 existing 1 (Main) 1NW Radiology waiting 256 new 1 (Main) 1NW Ultrasound waiting 108 new 1 (Main) 1NW Mammography waiting 48 new 1 (Main) 3S GI waiting 256 existing 1 (Main) 3W Hemodialysis clinic 3150 existing 1 (Main) 3W Speciality care waiting 768 new 1 (Main) 3N Inpatient 9200 new 1 (Main) 3 core Elevator lobby 3136 new 1 (Main) 3E PFT waiting 128 new 1 (Main) 4N Primary care waiting 128 new 1 (Main) 4N Cardiology waiting 64 new 1 (Main) 4 core Elevator lobby 3136 new 1 (Main) 4E Directors conference rooms 1225 new 1 (Main) 4S CLC 24500 new 1 (Main) 4W Nuclear medicine waiting 300 new 1 (Main) 5 core Elevator lobby 3136 existing 1 (Main) 5N ASU waiting 480 new 1 (Main) 5N ASU 4900 new 1 (Main) 5N Vascular lab waiting 192 new 1 (Main) 5S ICU 12000 new 1 (Main) 5S DOU 4000 new 1 (Main) 5S Family waiting room 200 new 1 (Main) 5E Inpatient 8100 new 11 SCI Basement Therapy 4600 new 11 SCI 1 SCI inpatient 34566 existing 11 SCI 2 Eye clinic waiting 135 new 11 SCI 2 Dental clinic waiting 180 new 11 SCI 2 Neurology waiting 135 new 11 SCI 2 Elevator lobby 540 new 14 MRI 1 MRi waiting room 300 new 25 1 Waiting room 300 new Requirements.
