AMENDMENT 0001: N00164-19-S-NC45- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)/SOURCES SOUGHT - BEAD SEAT CASTING ASSEMBLY - FSC 9640 - NAICS 331513 Issue Date: 26 SEPTEMBER 2019 - Closing Date: 25 NOVEMBER 2019 - 4:00 PM EDT REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) / SOURCES SOUGHT - The government is issuing this request for information / sources sought as part of market research for the production of Bead Seat Casting Assembly. Each assembly consists of twenty-six steel castings. Castings weigh between 300 and 500 lbs. Casting lengths vary from 60 inches to 83 inches. The casting cross-section (approximately 2.5 inches by 13 inches) is constant along the length of all castings, curvature and twist varies. The castings are 8620 alloy steel, poured into green sand molds. Government furnished wooden patterns are used to create the sand molds. Castings are cleaned, deburred, weld repaired; heat treated for mechanical properties, tapped holes machined, and ends ground to length. Test and inspection requirements include mechanical, chemical, magnetic particle, visual inspection, dimensional inspection, and radiographic (first article). MECHANICAL PROPERTIES -Test Method (ASTM A370) Tensile Strength - 80,000 PSI MINIMUM Yield Strength - 47,000 PSI MINIMUM Elongation (2") - 18% MINIMUM Hardness- 159 HBW MINIMUM Future demand is estimated to be 2-3 sets per year. All interested parties may submit company and product literature, a white paper no longer than 10 pages, and/or other pertinent information, such as a description with production capabilities, a statement of current availability, summary of prior experience, a budgetary estimate of production units, and any production quantity breaks. This RFI/sources sought does not constitute an Invitation for Bids (IFB), a Request for Quote (RFQ), or a Request for Proposal (RFP) and it should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the government to issue a formal solicitation or ultimately award a contract. The US Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse any companies or entities that respond to this announcement. Any costs incurred by interested companies in response to this announcement will NOT be reimbursed.
