- Description
- This project is located on the east shore of Lake Mohave above Davis Dam, in Arizona, within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The Katherine Landing (KL) Water Treatment Plant (WTP), located northwest of the Katherine Landing Developed Area, supplies potable water, fire water, as well as raw irrigation water for the developed area. Raw water is drawn from Lake Mohave by a raw water intake and pumping system. Lake Mohave has been contaminated with an invasive aquatic species (Quagga mussels). The mussels readily attach to nearly any surface, and interfere with the conveyance of water through the WTP as well as the raw water intake and associated piping. Facilities proposed to be constructed with this project include: a) The removal, replacement and disposal of one raw water intake barge, with duplex alternating pumps; installation of flexible water supply line of EPDM rubber to convey water from the barge to the onshore connection point; installation of raw water pumps, UV disinfection equipment for destruction of the Quagga Mussel larvae, and all relative piping (piping, valves and fittings), power distribution equipment, piping and hydraulic control equipment, mounting hardware and deck fittings, demolition, removal and disposal of existing stairs and furnishing and installing new cast in place concrete stairs and handrail system. The installation of UV light treatment system housed within an l 8'Lx9'Wxl O'H shelter, constructed on a concrete pad, and located near the existing electrical panel and transformer. b) The installation of aeration equipment in the existing 500,000 gallon concrete water storage tank for the removal of water disinfection byproducts. Work includes installation of aeration equipment in the tank, controls outside on the ground next to the tank, and approximately 7,800-ft of in ground conduit, conductors and control wire from power source to tank. The entire project will be constructed under a single prime contract. Independently, and not as an agent of the government, the contractor shall provide all services including labor, materials, facilities, tools, travel, and expertise (except as otherwise specified in the construction contract) necessary to construct the project described above. Magnitude of Construction:$1M-$5M Type of Contract: Firm Fixed Price Period of Performance: 150 Days from Notice to proceed.
