Description
The Atlanta VA Medical Center research needs equipment of a Radnoti Tissue-Organ Bath System that provides  a controlled environment for conducting isolated tissue studies without the influence of in vivo systemic variables. The system also provides  all the essential components for recording and analyzing motility data from isolated mouse intestinal tissue. The research in this laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying gastrointestinal motility disorders as they relate to diabetes, obesity, and inflammation. In the current study, the usage of the WD model to understand the selective susceptibility of this subset of neurons. By identifying the signaling mechanisms involved we can specifically target these pathways as a treatment method to promote the survival of these nerve cells in the gut. Such new therapies can prevent the gut complications that often necessitate the surgical removal of portions of the diseased intestines and thus lower costs towards the care of veterans. Radnoti Tissue-Organ Bath System characteristics as follows: Radnoti 4 Chamber Tissue-Organ Bath including a 2 L Reservoir, Oxygenating Bubbler, Transducer Positioners (x4) Hi-Tech Tissue Organ Bath (x4), Manifolds (x5), Four Unit Support System & Hardware Kit, Cable and Connector Package. Tissue chamber size 25 mL. Powerlab 4/35 data acquisition system including LabChart, Scope and LabChart Pro Modules software. 0-20g force transducer compatible with ADInstruments Bridge Amps. ACS Junction Box providing the ability to communicate up to 16 compatible RADSTIM Stimulator Modules, and designed to provide monophasic and biphasic voltage (250mV-32V Peak; 500mV to 64V P-P) and current (10-1000mA; 20-2000mA) stimulation. Vertical Zig-Zag Type Stimulating Electrode with Tissue Support Security clearance is not required. Vendors will not install, upgrade or access VA systems or VA patient sensitive information. The system is a stand-alone system not integrated with the VA IT. This is a Sources Sought synopsis only.
