Description
SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing this sources sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support a requirement for Exoskeleton Therapy for Edward Hines VA Hospital in Hines, IL. The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this procurement is 339113 Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AT THIS TIME. This request for capability information does not constitute a request for proposals; submission of any information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary; the government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred. Requirements: - Device can be used as a stand alone walking device and can also be used as a training device for veterans with altered gait patterns. - The device enable patient with lower-extremity paralysis or weakness to stand up and walk. - Device must be able to provide from 0% to 100% assistance to either leg based on both 1)device determination of patient need variable assist and 2)therapist input to the device (Adaptive assist). - Device must be able to quickly and efficiently transition between any size patients - Device must have at least two sets of batteries that are detachable and rechargeable to allow indefinite continuous use. - Device must have an integrated Physical Therapist Assist Handle for patient Safety. - Device must provide audio or tactile feedback to the user acknowledging proper body positioning for every step. - Device must have a rigid connection between the torso and hip assembly for spine support. - Device should have truncal stability support. - Device must have an internal online remote connection to factory for performance diagnostics and troubleshooting capability. - Device must have an automatic knee lock for safety in event of power loss. - Device must provide full device weight transfer to ground without patient bearing any load from the device. - The device assembled should not be more than 26lbs - Device must have control parameters for gait to include stride length, step height, step length. - Device must have modular quick connect design to allow donning and doffing ability by solo user If your organization has the potential capacity to perform these contract services, please provide the following information: 1) Organization name, address, email address, Web site address if applicable, telephone number, and size and type of ownership for the organization; and 2) Tailored capability statements addressing the particulars of this effort and documentation supporting claims of organizational and staff capability. If significant subcontracting or teaming is anticipated in order to deliver technical capability, organizations should address the administrative and management structure of such arrangements. The government will evaluate market information to ascertain potential market capacity to provide services consistent in scope and scale with those described in this notice and otherwise anticipated. BASED ON THE RESPONSES TO THIS SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE/MARKET RESEARCH, THIS REQUIREMENT MAY BE SET-ASIDE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES, SOLE SOURCED OR PROCURED THROUGH FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION.
