- NOTICE OF INTENT Service Cameca IMS1270E7 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with Cameca Instruments located at 5470 Nobel Dr, Madison WI 53711 to purchase maintenance services for a Cameca IMS1270E7. The Surface and Trace Chemical Analysis Group at NIST conducts research on the chemical and structural properties of matter by applying various ion and photon based microscopies whose resolution range from micrometers to nanometers; Researches the fundamental aspects of the excitation process, quantification, standards development, instrumental improvements, and data analysis challenges associated with these analytical methods; Conducts research on autoradiography and nuclear track methods; Conducts research in generation and size-calibration of particles; Develops and applies methods for the concentration, separation, and isotope measurement of trace atmospheric gases and particles; Researches fundamental aspects of trace detection of explosive and narcotic particles using ion mobility spectrometry; Applies analytical microscopy methods to problems in materials science, semiconductor technology, bioscience, environmental science, and homeland security. The above group has a Cameca IMS1270E7 (1280) large geometry secondary ion mass spectrometer (LG-SIMS) that provides critical support projects related to isotopic measurements and nuclear forensics research. Cameca Instruments has been identified as the only sources capable of providing all troubleshooting and related service by trained and qualified Cameca Instruments, Inc. service engineers at the request of NIST during the duration of the Service Agreement, including up to five (5) days of on-site service for the NIST Cameca IMS1270E7 (1280) and parts and unlimited telephone assistance, explanations, and advice. The resulting purchase order will be a Firm-Fixed-Price purchase order. The NAICS Code is 334516 with a size standard of 1000 employees. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, interested parties who regard themselves as capable of fulfilling these requirements are invited to submit responses to the Government for consideration. Responses received by 10:00 am EST 8/30/2018, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
