Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to award a single source contract to U.S. Tower Corporation (Lincoln, Kansas). The Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center (FAALC), in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), proposes to acquire repair services and procurement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), engineering studies and analytical technical support for various proprietary components in support of the Falcon Mast System Assembly mounted on the Mobile Video Surveillance System (MVSS) Purpose of Announcement: In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single source procedures. U.S. Tower is the only known source that can provide the repair and services to U.S. Tower Falcon Mast assembly and associated components. U.S. Tower is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of this equipment. U.S. Tower is the sole proprietary source for the technical data and drawings necessary to repair and/or replace the Falcon Mast Assembly. The Falcon Mast assembly is under warranties that are invalidated if its parts or assemblies are repaired or replaced by persons who are not certified by U.S. Tower Corporation to do such work. The Falcon Mast assembly warranties are also invalidated if counterfeit or unapproved parts or assemblies are installed on it, or if features are added to it which are not accommodated by its design tolerances. Future requirements will be reconsidered when applicable. The proposed NAICs code for this acquisition is 811219, Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a size standard of $20.5M.
