- Description
- 7/31/2019 - Added a zip file to access specifications ******* The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Southern Region, AAQ-510(ATL), College Park, GA, is issuing Screening Information Request (SIR) # 697DCK-19-R-00466 for the manufacturing, production, test, and delivery of the ARSR-4 Transmitter Cooling System (TCS) according to the design, form, and intent of the design package. The ARSR-4 radar system is the United States' newest long range radar system and completed deployment in year 2000. This system provides radar coverage for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The radar transmitter used in the ARSR-4 system is located in a room on the upper portion of the radar tower just below the antenna. The method that was employed to cool the transmitter is comprised of a high pressure blower that draws unconditioned air from the outside of the structure, forces it across cooling coils in the transmitter, and then exhausts the heated air back outside the structure. This method resulted in the accelerated deterioration and reduced life of components in the transmitter, as well as other equipment in the transmitter room. To fix this situation, the FAA created a design that no longer re-circulates unconditioned air through the transmitter. The primary component of this design is a special-purpose refrigerant-based cooling system. This system draws air through the transmitter, cools the heated air, and then exhausts the air back into the room. FAA engineers have completed the design of the cooling system, and the design package is ready for manufacture and production. The NAICS CODE for this requirement will be 333415, Air-Conditioning and Warm Air Heating Equipment and Commercial and Industrial Refrigeration Equipment Manufacturing, with a Small Business Size Standard of 750 employees. Instructions for proposal submittal are located in Section L of the Solicitation. Proposals are due 20 August 2019 at 3:00 pm Eastern Time. Please direct all questions about this solicitation to marc.lemay@faa.gov This advertisement is not to be construed as a contract or a commitment of any kind. The Government shall not be liable for payment of any costs attributed to the preparation and submission of offers in response to this solicitation.
