- Page 4 of 4 Sources Sought Notice The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office (NCO) 15 is conducting market research to help determine the availability and technical capabilities of SDVOSB, SB and Larges Business that can provide Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) memberships for Base Year with Four Option Years. The membership services and products with AAMI shall provide local VA healthcare facilities access to the latest information and references to help with medical device implementation, usage, and management as stated below. STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENT Nature and/or Description of the Action Being Processed: The request membership services and products with AAMI shall provide local VA healthcare facilities with access to the latest information and references to help with medical device implementation, usage, and management. Must provide AAMI memberships, periodicals, and access to AAMI standards. VHA clinical and technical staff rely on the information and resources provided by the AAMI products and services to do their jobs and ensure that appropriate standards and codes are met and become educated on certifications, recent relevant biomedical engineering topics, etc. Task 1: Institutional Membership. The contractor shall provide the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) an Institutional AAMI membership to include a total of 175 institutional representative slots for health technology management (HTM) professionals from across the VA s 160 medical centers/health care systems and Biomedical Engineering offices. The AAMI Institutional membership shall include but not be limited to: Member discounts of 40% or more off the purchase of AAMI products. The government rate on registration to the AAMI Exchange and other events which is less than the member discount. Free job search and resume posting in the AAMI Career Center. Online access to BI&T, the health technology industry s leading journal for clinical engineers and biomedical equipment support specialists; AAMI News, a monthly newsletter focusing on important career and industry news, as well as archived editions of the publication; Horizons, an annual magazine that takes a deep dive into a single topic; and AAMI News Weekly, a digital newsletter. Annual voting materials for AAMI Board of Directors and bylaws changes. $50 or more off AAMI Certification Institute (ACI) certification exams and recertification fees. Opportunities to serve on Standards committees and working group representing the VA to help develop global standards for medical devices and the HTM field. Opportunity to apply to serve on non-Standards committees, such as the Technology Management Council (TMC), Healthcare Technology Leadership Committee (HTLC), Editorial Board Awards Committee, Wireless Strategy Task Force, and other technical committees, to help shape the future of the health technology field. Opportunities to recognize VA staff through a number of important AAMI and AAMI Foundation awards. Access to AAMI s online membership directly to help locate colleagues within and outside of the VA. Administrative access for the COR or designee to manage the 175 Institutional rep accounts. Additional institutional representatives may be added at a cost of $50 per representative per year. Task 2: Healthcare Technology Management and AAMI Standards Collections. The contractor shall provide the Department of Veterans Affairs access for all named users to access the Healthcare Technology Management and AAMI Complete Standards Collections via eSubscription for 20 concurrent named users up to 175 total named users. The Healthcare Technology Management Collection and AAMI Standards Collection shall include but not be limited to: Online access to the Healthcare Technology Collection, last updated in February 2019, via AAMI s eSubscription platform. The Healthcare Technology Collection shall include detailed and practical resources written by and expressly for biomedical equipment technicians, clinical engineers, and other medical technology professionals and offer guidance on topics ranging from preparing for a Joint Commission survey to troubleshooting equipment and benchmarking salaries and benefits. References on the following topics shall be included: Career advice for health technology management (HTM) staff Management training Networked medical devices including IT references Best Practices and Lessons learned Human Factors Home Healthcare devices Other relevant and useful references for HTM staff in the VA Online access to 200 or more national and international standards, recommended practices, technical information reports, and other resources covering sterilization, healthcare technology management dialysis, biological evaluation of medical devices, quality systems, and medical equipment. Documents shall be fully searchable via the eSubscription platform 24/7. Administrative access for the COR or designee to manage the 175-person roster for the Healthcare Technology Management Collection and the AAMI Standards Collection.
