Salient Characteristics: The SphygmoCor system evaluates responses of the central blood pressure system to various cardiovascular compounds, which creates signals from arteries at specific frequencies; these wave signals are absorbed and reflected by red blood cells as they move through the blood vessels, and an analog signal is created. The analog signal is captured and transported in real-time from the Millar system and the data are channeled to a mobile workstation computer for subsequent analysis using specific algorithms, arterial stiffness is estimated. The SphygmoCor system provides the only methodology available that is compatible with software program algorithms presently being used in our autonomic testing laboratory The SphygmoCor system hardware is needed because the company has been successful in the design, and progressive updates to this unique technology which identifies arterial stiffness accurately during various provocations in rapid succession; the technology is unique and highly specialized.
