Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Charleston VA Health Care System, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with VisualSonics for the Vevo 3100 Imaging System. The Vevo 3100 Imaging System is the only instrument utilizes very high frequency linear solid-state probes that allows for high-resolution imaging of body structures. In addition, these probes are custom-designed to allow ultrasound imaging of structures that move very fast like the hearts of mice, which beat at rates exceeding 500 600 beats per minute. Importantly, the imaging studies can be done over and over again in the same animal which makes these instruments very powerful in terms of being able to track the progression of disease and/or the effects of potential treatment(s) to treat the disease. The images acquired by the instrument are also analyzed using powerful software tools that are integral to the device. Devices from other manufacturer s cannot match either the high frequency probes (such as devices used on humans or large animals) or the spatial and temporal fidelity of measurements that can be obtained from the linear solid-state phased array probes. This is a notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Wednesday, July 24th, 12:00, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (19-JUL-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT 877-472-3779 or fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
