Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE The Corporate Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center, 3900 Woodland Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has a requirement for brand name Virtamed Orthopedic simulators. VA has only located one vendor capable of providing these Virtamed Simulators and intends to issue a sole source contract to this vendor. This notice is being posted so that any unknown vendors who are capable of providing this item may come forward and express their interest and capability in providing this brand of simulators to the VA. If your company/organization is capable of providing the required items, please provide your entities capability statement to Ronald Kline, Contracting Officer by 12:00 noon EST, Friday, July 5, 2019 via email to Ronald.kline@va.gov. In addition to your capability statement please also provide any applicable distribution agreements regarding Virtamed Orthopedic simulators, the size and socioeconomic status of your company, and any other information pertinent to this requirement. Reference Procurement ID number 36C24419Q0870 in the subject of the email. ***This is not a request for quote, no quotes should be sent in response to this notice. STATEMENT OF WORK: The VA uses simulation training to make medical education authentic and focused, using a broad spectrum of technology and staged interaction to provide a controlled and safe learning environment for both students and practitioners. Simulation training increases confidence and elevates competence by providing a safer and more supportive environment for learning skills and using critical decision-making skills. The VA has put a new emphasis on medical simulators in an effort to provide a more comprehensive training for all physicians and better care for patients. SCOPE OF WORK: The Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center is looking to procure a new simulator that allows for training of various orthopedic, urology, and OB/GYN procedures and techniques in a safe and realistic environment allowing trainees to acquire and improve their skills before performing surgery on a live patient. The simulator must combine the rubber model of each relevant discipline with the benefits of virtual reality. The rubber model provides immediate and realistic feedback and also incorporates adapted original instruments, which is a feature not found on any other simulators.
