Description
Presolicitation Notice Badlands Water Based Fire Suppression System in Apartment and Housing Unit The National Park Service intends to issue a solicitation for replacement of a glycerin-based fire suppression system used in an apartment building (Interior, SD) and park residence (South Unit, South of Scenic, SD) at Badlands National Park, Interior, South Dakota. A Simplified Acquisition Process will be used to solicit and award this contract. This project will abandon in place the current fire suppression system piping in the attic, install new fire suppression piping through the interior areas of the apartments and housing unit and make the connections to the existing fire riser suppression control valve. The fire riser will need to be modified from a glycerin based system to a water-only system. All exposed fire suppression piping in interior areas will be covered in cove molding (Decro-Shield System or equal). Fire suppression system must meet NFPA 13R and provide proper coverage to interior areas in all parts of the building through the use of side discharge heads. The anticipated period of performance will be 60 calendar days in total, 20 for each building with on-site work beginning in August of 2019, including 20 days for pre-work submittal approvals. The final performance period start date may be slightly adjusted dependent on the final award process and dates and park schedules. This project will be established as unrestricted to support full and open competition. The NAICS Code is 238220 with a size standard of $15 million. The magnitude of this project is expected to be between $25,000 and $100,000. The National Park Service, Midwest Region (MWR), NEKOTA MABO, intends to award a firm-fixed price, construction contract in response to this solicitation. A formal Solicitation will follow this preliminary notice. The government intends to issue Solicitation Number 140P6319Q0006 and its attachments, on or about April 2, 2019.
