Description
Notice of Intent: Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic intends to award a sole-source contract to StrataSys, Inc. (Stratasys), 7665 Commerce Way, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 to provide warranty support for the Stratasys Fortus 380 3D printer. Warranty support is needed to keep printer and software updated, on- line, on-site support, and parts. This support will keep the Fortus 380 printer reliable for all print jobs and support replacement of worn or damaged parts. Preventive maintenance is included and preventative maintenance is performed by certified Stratasys service representative at factory recommended maintenance intervals. Preventative maintenance procedures may be completed in conjunction with unscheduled or emergency service visits. Warranty will guarantee priority scheduling of a certified field service representative after a problem is reported to the Stratasys Call Center and the need for an on-site service visit is determined. Hardware and software updates / modifications as deemed necessary by Stratasys will be installed when available throughout the maintenance period. The Fortus 380 is a Stratasys proprietary 3D printer and other companies cannot offer the same warranty support for the Stratasys 3D printer. The Fortus 380 requires software and hardware updates that can only be done through Stratasys Inc, which will keep the 3D printer available to continue to print working prototypes for the program. Additionally, the manufacturer does not have or work through resellers. The authority for soliciting from a single source is FAR 13.106(b)(1). The Government anticipates the award of a Firm-Fixed-Price purchase order. The proposed contract action is for supplies and incidental services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with a single source under authority of FAR 13.106-2. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
