- THIS IS A PRESOLICITATION NOTICE The Department of Veterans Affairs, Nashville VA Medical Center is preparing to issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for Project 603-18-303 Replace North Campus Sidewalk SET ASIDE: 100% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) PROJECT MAGNITUDE: Between $100,000.00 and $250,000.00 NAICS: 236220 Commercial and Institutional Building Construction SMALL BUSINESS SIZE STANDARD: $36.5 million PROJECT OVERVIEW: Provide all labor, materials, tools and supervision to accomplish this project. All working areas must be maintained within safety fences. Completely demolish existing sidewalks as indicated on drawings and replace with new 6 foot wide sidewalks, hand rails, trench drains and other work required to complete this project. The construction area is on the north side of campus in the area of buildings 1, 3, 4, T-22 and T-27. The new sidewalks are approximately 1,000 feet long by 6 feet wide. Where trench drains are indicated alongside of the new sidewalk maintain the 6 foot sidewalk width. The sidewalk from parking lot 6 includes 1-1/4 Sch 40 Anodized Aluminum Pipe hand rails on both sides (match existing at E-wing), maintain 6-foot minimum clearance between hand rails. The hand rail on the south side of the side walk will start at building T-22, similar to the existing hand rail. The lower portion of this sidewalk will include a trench drain on the south side to control ground water, approximately 85 feet. A retaining wall will be required on the north side of the sidewalk at the lower end of sidewalk near the man hole, approximately 60 feet. Include tapered approaches at sidewalk intersection and parking areas. The sidewalk and curb along the street west of building 1 is to be replaced. Sidewalk width 6-foot, curb width match existing. Include tapered approaches at curbs and restore curbs as required. The sidewalk from the T intersection at the bottom of the hill close to Building 5 to the intersection at the top of the hill is to be replaced with a 6-foot-wide sidewalk plus trench drain on the uphill side. Include tapered approaches at curbs and restore curbs as required. The sidewalk from the top of the hill and in front of Building 3, 4 and 24 is to be replaced with a 6-foot-wide sidewalk. Move flower bed border approximately 2 feet north and 2 feet west to maintain existing area. Restore flower bed to previous appearance and condition. Do not move bolder. Repaint cross walks as required to maintain relevant width. Re-set valve covers and man hole covers to maintain smooth passage on sidewalk. Relocate signs as required to maintain off-set from sidewalk. Install a 4-inch drain system to capture and control rain water from buildings T-27. Discharge this drain system into the ground water culvert intake at the street curb. The period of performance for this project is 120 days.
