- This is a Notice of Intent published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.101(a)(1) requiring the dissemination of information regarding proposed contract actions. This Notice of Intent is for a proposed award of a sole source, firm-fixed price contract under the authority of FAR 8.405-6(a)(1)(B); only one source is capable of providing the supplies or services required at the level of quality required because the supplies or services are unique or highly specialized. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 23 intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price contract to Aethon, Inc. for Maintenance and Service for TUG Robots and supporting equipment located at the VA Nebraska Western Iowa Health Care System (NWIHCS). Service Technicians must have original equipment manufacturers (OEM) training on the specific models located at the Omaha VA Medical Center and must have full and unfettered access to all OEM service publications, diagnostic services, and software. Only one source is capable of providing the services required at the level of quality required because the software and services are unique or proprietary to Aethon, Inc. The Government understands that Aethon, Inc is the only vendor that can provide the requested maintenance service for Aethon TUG Robots. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 819219 with a small business size standard of $20.5M. The service code is J065. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. Responsible sources may identify their interest and capability to meet this requirement by submitting supporting documentation including an authorized dealer/distributor letter. Such documentation will be reviewed solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct the procurement on a competitive basis. If your firm is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned or Veteran Owned Small Business, you must be verified in Department of Veterans Affairs, Vendor Information Pages (VIP) at https://www.vip.vetbiz.va.gov/. A determination not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government will not be responsible for any costs associated with the preparation of responses to this notification.
