Description
The Bureau of Reclamation, Pacific Northwest Region, Grand Coulee Dam has a requirement to improve and modernize the Block 31 Elevator, located in the Grand Coulee Block 31 Tower. This is a unique elevator with two (2) modes of operation, passenger and freight. The elevator is operated with two (2) DC motors in tandem and has been in operation since its original installation around 1942. The work specifications to be performed include modernizing the Block 31 elevator while preserving and refurbishing the existing DC motors, upgrading hoist way lighting, improving temperature controls in the machine room, and providing fire detection and alarm systems compatible with current Grand Coulee Power Office systems. This construction period of performance is estimated to be approximately 365 days, beginning in October 2019. 2nd Sources Sought Notice for Block 31 Elevator Modernization Construction Project, Grand Coulee Dam, WA. Bureau of Reclamation, Pacific Northwest Region The Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), is posting a second Sources Sought notice to determine interest by contractors of all business sizes for an upcoming Elevator Construction requirement in the Block 31 Tower, at the Grand Coulee Dam, WA. The upcoming opportunity is for the Block 31 Elevator Modernization Construction Project. The Block 31 Elevator, located in the Grand Coulee Block 31 Tower, is a unique elevator with two (2) modes of operation ¿ passenger and freight. The elevator is operated with two (2) DC motors in tandem and has been in operation since its original installation around 1942. The work specifications to be performed include Modernizing the Block 31 Elevator while preserving and refurbishing the existing DC motors, upgrading hoist way lighting, improving temperature controls in the machine room, and providing fire detection and alarm systems compatible with current Grand Coulee Power Office systems. Grand Coulee Dam is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The Contractor shall protect the visual and character-defining features of elements to be removed, and of all elements to remain. All Work shall be performed in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior ¿s Standards for Rehabilitation. The applicable NAICS code is now 238290, Other Building Equipment Contractors, with a size standard of $15 million. Period of Performance is anticipated with construction beginning in October 2019 for one (1) calendar year. Interested parties are asked to provide the following information: 1) Business Name and DUNS number 2) Contact information 3) Business size and any additional socioeconomic classification(s) 4) Bonding capability, including current single and aggregate performance and payment bond limits 5) Brief capabilities statement that addresses experience performing similar projects as a prime contractor. This is NOT a Request for Proposal or Invitation for Bids and does not constitute any commitment by the Government. The Government will not pay for information received in response to this notice. All interested sources must respond to future solicitation announcements separately from responses to this Sources Sought notice. Information obtained through this notice may be used to determine the potential for issuing a future solicitation for this project with a small business set-aside, and to provide input for the Government's overall acquisition strategy.
