- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed contracts to University of Texas, Baylor Medical Center, and MD Andersonfor Data acquisition for invasive mold infections in hurricane impacted areas post Hurricane Harvey. Houston has three major flagship hospitals covering all of the Houston metropolitan area (University of Texas, Baylor Medical Center, and MD Anderson). These three hospital systems serve as the flagships for with all of the smaller community hospitals feed into. The Flagship hospitals are the only ones that perform stem cell and organ transplants. These are the greatest conditions for developing invasive mold infections.
