- Description
- Jordan has made considerable economic, social and human development progress over the past decades, investing significantly in infrastructure, human resources, and improving upon living standards. Women's empowerment in particular has been supported by a strong political will at the highest government levels in Jordan. Enormous efforts and discussions between government officials, legislative leaders and civil society representatives have taken place to stress the importance of women being crucial partners in sustainable development and reforms for a better future. Nevertheless, a considerable gap exists between men and women in relation to employment and access to job opportunities. Women in Jordan face many challenges to attain economic empowerment, including; social pressures and stereotypes as well as limited access to safe workplaces, leadership opportunities, and support services such as childcare and transportation.
