Description
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Washington intends to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Firm Fixed-Price Construction contract for P265 Hangar and associated facility to support research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT and E) of Unmanned Carrier Launched Aerial Surveillance Systems (UCLASS), at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, Patuxent River, MD. Project Description: The project proposes construction of a new 80,000 square foot hangar and associated facility to support research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT and E) of Unmanned Carrier Launched Aerial Surveillance Systems (UCLASS) and to be located on the primary airfield at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River. The construction will be based on full construction documents and specifications developed through a separate design bid build contract. The hangar consists of shops, maintenance administration, squadron administration/operations, and hangar bay spaces to support the program. The hangar bay will be approximately 21,500 square feet and will accommodate three (3) aircraft, two (2) with wings extended and one (1) with wings folded. The remainder of the hangar will consist of two levels housing the Squadron administration and operations spaces, providing laboratory spaces, shop spaces, offices, conference rooms, and other mission spaces to support the project program. The site development will consist of a 260 space parking lot, structural storm water management facilities, associated utility infrastructure, and airfield apron and taxiway connecting the hangar to Runway 06-24. The shell of the facility is comprised primarily of masonry materials so as not to interfere with radio frequencies or other elements critical to the program mission, and is acoustically treated in order to minimize noise from the surrounding airfield. The control rooms and associated spaces in the facility are independently shielded against electromagnetic interference. Additional spaces requiring a high level of security are being constructed to the standards outlined in ICD/ICS 705. The site development will consist of a 260 space parking lot, structural storm water management facilities, associated utility infrastructure, and airfield apron and taxiway connecting the hangar to Runway 06-24. The project will include sustainable design principles in the design and construction of the facility in accordance with Executive Order 13123 and other laws and Executive Orders. Upon completion of construction, the building will be certified as LEED Silver. NOTE: THIS NOTICE MAY HAVE POSTED ON FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (01-MAR-2018).
