Page 1 of 1 Intent to Sole Source: The Atlanta VA Medical Center intends to sole source to I C Consultants LTD for a single twin channel iPerfusion system. Investigators at the Atlanta VA Medical Center s Rehabilitation Research & Development Center for Neurocognitive Rehabilitation (CVNR) are conducting research aimed to assess the biomechanical properties of the eye, which is essential for researching glaucoma and potential effective glaucoma therapies. This includes measuring outflow facility (ability of fluid to flow out of the eye) and ocular biomechanical properties (compliance). Because of the research and researcher are using novel approaches to address this question we require specialized equipment designed specifically to complete our research. The research scientists intend to use the iPerfusion System in a research study investigating the effects of age and menopause on the biomechanical properties of the eye. In addition, the research intends to incorporate this equipment into future projects aimed at assessing the role of menopause and biomechanical properties in various ocular diseases. The system must also be compatible with use on small (mice and rats) and large (porcine) animals. This will help in the versatility of the equipment and is a critical need for the product to be useful. The NAICS code for this procurement is 334516 Item Description iPerfusion V Twin channel microperfusion system, each with independent pressure and temperature control, and pressure and flow measurement.
