Description
In accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b), this Notice of Intent is to inform all parties the Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office (NCO) 19 located at 6162 South Willow Drive Suite 300, Greenwood Village, CO 80111 intends to award a sole source procurement for the following requirement to the large business manufacturer, Hologic Inc. located at 10210 Genetic Center Drive, San Diego, CA 92121: ITEM # DESCRIPTION OF SUPPLIES QTY UNIT OF ISSUE 0001 Hologic ThinPrep 2000 Processor 1 EA 0002 Cellient Automated Cell Block System 1 EA The Cellient Automated Cell Block System is the first fully-automated cell blocking system built on ThinPrep technology. It improves capture by maximizing cellularity even from small/scanty samples improves presentation by maintaining crisp, clear cellular architectural detail with concentrations of cells within the block. It improves consistency by being fully automated with minimal operator dependency, resulting in less cross-contamination risk along with consistently rapid processing time. Cellient System is the only machine of its type available, no other manufacturers make this type of device. The only other options are a manual cell block reagent that requires user to mix several solutions increasing exposure of technician to blood and body fluids. There is also a time factor for the testing personnel as the Cellient is a load and forget system and takes approximately 15 seconds to load and unload specimen as opposed to manual mixing, pipetting, re-mixing, re-pipetting and increasing the turn-around for patient results to provider. Most manual cell block procedures are around 50% adequate where the Cellient is around 95% adequacy. The associated North America Classification Systems (NAICS) Code is 334516 and the Business Size Standard is 1000 employees. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement no later than 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
