- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) Atlantic, Code 52640 is seeking information on commercially-available LED Approach Lighting for a Simplified Short Approach Lighting System with Runway Alignment Indicator (SSALR) and Threshold Lights. The following information is requested for the available system(s): 1. Confirmation that the system meets FAA, ICAO and UFC 3-535-01 (For USAF Category 1/Precision IFR) criteria for; SSALR (Modified ALSF-1/2) and threshold lighting system. OR A statement of any deviation to the stated criteria and background information. 2. Environmental characteristics of the system. The desired lighting system must be suitable for extreme cold weather environment; - Desired minimum operating temperature -40 Degrees C (-55 Degrees C preferable). - Include information on provisions to prevent snow and ice accumulation. If minor changes would allow for temperature criteria to be reached, discuss those modifications with regard to complexity and level of effort to implement. 3. The desired system will use LED lamps Compatibility with Night Vision Goggles NVG (near-infrared) is desired. 4. All fixtures are to be elevated type. Fixture Types: a. High Intensity Approach Light with Amber Filter b. Threshold Lights Uni- Directional Green c. Threshold/Runway End Light Bi-Directional Red/Green d. Sequenced Flashing Lights e. Lamps for steady burning approach lights and threshold/runway end lights to be LED equivalent 500 Watt 5. This project is early in the design phase and options to replace existing lamps with LED lamps may be considered as an alternative to complete system replacement. The Government requests information on available LED lamps meeting requirements which may be retro-fitted into existing fixtures. Existing Lamp Types a. High Intensity Approach/Threshold Lights - PAR 56, 500W 20A (ANSI Q20A/PAR56/1/C) b. Threshold/Runway End Bi- Directional Lights - T20 Med/Bi-Post 503W, 20A/T20/3 c. Sequenced Flashing Lamp Xenon Strobe NSN 6240-01-078-2461 6. Provide detail on available options to power the system. For any potential solution, assume a runway width of 150 feet requiring 49 threshold lights (Note: 10 Red/Green Bi-directional lights for Threshold/Runway End Lights and 39 Green Uni-Directional Threshold Lights). Review of this information will be performed by SPAWARSYSCEN Code 52640 personnel with the aim to determine if commercial solutions can meet the Governments requirements. All information received will be treated as public knowledge and may be used in SPAWARSYSCEN documentation; therefore, vendors should not submit proprietary information in response to this RFI. Specific information sought includes: - Company information, including name, address, URL, revenue, and number of employees. - Whether the company is a manufacturer or distributor. - A point of contact for follow-up information, and the point of contacts phone number and e-mail address. - Product name and a description of features as described above. - Cost information such as purchase price and General Services Administration (GSA) schedule information. The submitted information will be evaluated for inclusion in SPAWARSYSCEN projects and used to prepare solicitation documentation If an SPAWARSYSCEN project requiring this type of equipment is executed, the equipment selection will be based upon a number of factors, including responder surveys and focus group inputs. Consequently, follow-up requests for feedback should not be made through Federal Business Opportunities posting agency.
