- Description
- SOURCES SOUGHT: The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 6 Network Contracting Office (NCO) is conducting Market Research through this sources sought to help determine the availability of qualified Small Businesses (SB), registered under NAICS code 334516, to supplying the following instruments to the Hunter Holmes McGuire VAMC. The HHM VAMC requires an audio stimulus based operant conditioning system. Acclimatization: Rat will be presented with an auditory cue, followed by a pellet treat. The system should have a capability to train rats to poke in a receptacle based on an auditory cue. If the rat responds by poking in the pellet receptacle, a pellet treat will be dispensed. If the rat pokes in the receptacle without the audio cue, an air puff will be presented as a deterrent. The auditory cue and a signal from head entry detector will be fed to analog inputs of the data acquisition system. Alternatively, the system should also be able to hold assembly for different paradigms: two pellet receptacle holes and generate two different audio tones. Treat will be presented only if the rat pokes in the correct receptacle or respond to correct audio tone. This system should consist of an extra tall (for rats) sound attenuating cubicle with provision for commutator top, stainless steel grid floor; and hooded house light; Modular pellet dispenser and two receptacles; two head entry detector; 2 Sonalert Modules with Volume Control; at least 4 Input / Output Package; custom software license to control and modify the learning paradigm; HD air pump for air puff aversion; and ability to interface with third party system including electrical stimulator (AM systems: analog system isolator model 2200) and data acquisition systems (AlphaOmega SnR system or Plexon Map system). The requested system will allow the scientist to train and test rodents for various learning and behavioral paradigms. The system should provide wide range on operant conditioning systems and readily allow interface with multiple third-party systems for complex learning-stimulation paradigms. If the contractor can provide the above items, the contractor shall provide a letter from the manufacturer stating they are an authorized distributor/licenser of their products. Failure to submit an authorized distributor letter shall result in the product(s) potentially offered to be considered grey market and shall not be considered technically acceptable. The capability statements received from this market research are for planning purposes only and will assist the Government in planning its acquisition strategy. This is strictly market research and the Government will not entertain questions concerning this market research. The Government will not assume any costs incurred by the contractor in the preparation of responses. All responses shall be submitted in writing no later than January 23, at 0700AM EST to the attention of: Cole J. Culley, VA Medical Center, 27 Averill Avenue, Hampton, VA 23667.
