Sources Sought Synopsis This is a SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. This is a Sources Sought Notice only and is issued in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 15.201(e) in order to conduct market research. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. This notice is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a guarantee to issue an RFP in the future. This notice does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary; the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government. Not responding to this notice does not preclude participation in any future RFP, if issued. This announcement is based on the best information available at this time and is subject to future amendment. The anticipated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 621399 Offices of All Other Miscellaneous Health Practitioners, Small Business Size Standard $7.5 Million. Overview: The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing this source sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support the services of Medical Technologists and Technicians. The need will be to cover core laboratory services at the New York Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses of the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System (NYHHS). The allocation of technologists & technicians will be determined by Pathology & Laboratory Service (Service) between the two campuses. Currently, the need of the service is 8.00 FTE Medical Technologists and 3.0 FTE Medical Technicians. Site Locations: New York Harbor Healthcare System (NYHHS). Manhattan New York Harbor Healthcare System (NYHHS). Brooklyn 423 E 23 Street 800 Poly Place New York, NY 10010 Brooklyn, NY 11209 Task Assigned: Receives and if required, accessions into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), various specimens, e.g., blood, urine, body fluids, bacterial cultures. Checks requests to ensure that all pertinent information required to generate and communicate test results to the ordering clinician is provided. Performs manual WBC differentials and red cell morphology tests. Evaluates and determines the suitability of specimens for analysis and requests new specimens if the originals are unsuitable. Prepares specimens for analysis, ensuring that the physiologic state of properties is maintained. Operates the following Clinical Pathology analyzers, demonstrating full competence with the equipment: Chemistry (routine/immunological), Hematology and Coagulation, Urinalysis. Please note the following experience: Medical Technologists, certified by ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathology) or AMT (American Medical Technologists).
