- Description
- The mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Human Resources and Administration (OHRA), Office of Administration (OA), Office of Support Services, Property Management Division (PMD) is to provide direct oversight and maintain overall responsibility for property accountability for the entire VACO (VA Central Office) Campus; to include 49 buildings, Satellite Offices, Maryland, West Virginia and Richmond, VA facilities. These responsibilities include the following logistical support to VACO Campus employees: Acquiring, receipting, storing, disposing, excessing, transferring and moving of all government equipment/furniture. PMD is required by Federal Law/regulations and VA policy to ensure internal controls are in place to effectively manage and control accountability of expendable and nonexpendable property. PMD's goals are to provide timely asset distribution, accurate accountability and maintain the integrity of the asset data base management system of record for all property transactions. PMD currently is required to provide logistical support to the entire VACO Campus consisting of approximately 13,000 employees, and 8000 contractors located in 49 buildings. This requirement supports the operation of approximately 35,000 square feet to process daily acquisition, receipt, storage, distribution and disposal of office supplies, furniture and equipment. Approximately 30,000 pieces of equipment and furniture are processed through the warehouse annually. Scrap metal and wood, are placed in open top containers for proper disposal. Storage consists of mainly boxes, tape, envelopes and copier paper to support office moves and replenish supplies. Receipt of property, delivery of office supplies, furniture moves and reconfigurations, pickup of excess furniture, transferring equipment to various VA facilities, and equipment turn-in are performed daily. Frequent transport of excess furniture and equipment to GSA and UNICOR occurs routinely.
