Description

Purpose and Objectives: The intent of this Sources Sought Notice is to identify potential businesses especially any Small Businesses and SDVOSB offerors capable of providing an slide stainer for the Microbiology section of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine department at the Erie, PA VAMC. This equipment will provide hands-free staining of biological specimens used in clinical determinations of disease states. The ultimate benefit of converting to an automated system is standardization of staining practices, reduction of cross-contamination and economically reducing the amount of consumable reagent waste. Responses to this Sources Sought Notice should demonstrate the firm's ability, capability, and responsibility to provide the principal components of supplies listed in the attached document. Responses should include the following information: Business name, address, Point of Contact, Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business info and if they are a manufacturer of the items. All information is to be submitted via e-mail at Justin.Erdley@va.gov. This is a Sources Sought Notice and submissions will be used for informational and planning purposes only. This notice does not constitute a formal Request for Quote (RFQ), nor is the government obligated to issue an RFQ. In addition, the Government does not intend to pay for any information provided under this notice. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey. Description/Salient Features: Must Have the Following Features: Must be a closed system, centrifugal methodology Must have the capability to create multiple user-defined programming options Must have 2 carousels each with a 12 slide capacity Must have a lid locking mechanism Must have the capability to alert user of low reagent levels Must have the capability to alert use of waste capacity levels Must have automated self-clean capability Must include initial start-up reagents Must include applicable maintenance kit Electrical power requirements will not exceed 120V Dimensions not to exceed 25 W, 22 D Training and Installation: Vendor will install equipment within the laboratory-designated area. The vendor will configure all settings for local use based on information provided by the government POC (Point of Contact). Training for staff technologists to include hands-on technical demonstration will occur within 30 workdays after successful award. Security & Privacy Control: Contractor will be on station to provide a service and is therefore required to take the generalized privacy training:   VA Privacy Training for Personnel without Access to VA Computer Systems or VA Sensitive Information.   Contractor can self-enroll in TMS, take training course # VA20939, and provide a copy of the completed training certificate to the POC.   Or, contractor can read the text version and provide a copy of the completed training certificate to the POC.     If text version is reviewed, the POC will enter training as completed in TMS.
