- This is a Request for Information (RFI) only. This RFI is for informational planning purposes only and should not be construed as a commitment by the Government for any procurement of materials, machinery or services. This Notice does not constitute a solicitation or a promise of a solicitation in the future. This RFI does not commit the Government to a contract for any supply or service. Respondents are advised that the Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI. All costs associated with responding to this RFI are solely at the responding parties’ expense. The United States Mint will not be obligated to pursue any particular acquisition alternative as a result of this RFI. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future solicitation, if one is issued. The U.S. Department of the Treasury, United States Mint, is interesting in identifying vendors offering existing technologies, systems, and products to deter counterfeiting of precious metal coins and medals, circulating coins, Certificates of Authenticity (COAs) and packaging associated with United States Mint products. This includes application of overt and/or covert features as well as detection of counterfeit product. Information and capabilities submitted for consideration will be reviewed for inherent and relative effectiveness and may be further assessed by the United States Mint. The United States Mint may decide to meet with one or more companies and/or individuals to conduct market research. Not being selected for further evaluation does not mean that you are precluded from participating in any future solicitation, if one is issued. For initial market research purposes, interested parties are requested to submit via email: 1. Identify the area of interest (coins/medals, COAs, and/or packaging). 2. A brief technical description of the existing technology/product and capability of your organization; statement limit 2 pages. 3. Number of years in business offering the technology and a sample/reference list of customers. 4. Please indicate if your business is a HUBZone, Service Disabled Veteran-Owned, or women owned small business firm relative to North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code 339999, All Other Miscellaneous Manufacturers. No proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information should be included in your response. The U.S. Government and the United States Mint shall not be liable for the disclosure or use of any information submitted under this RFI.
