- ***No Set Aside - Full and Open Competition*** Proposals are due 9/25/18 by 5:00 PM CST. Email proposals to van.ctr.nicholson@faa.gov. Site visits not anticipated. This is an open source competition; all may bid. GEOTECHNICAL: Provide a Licensed Commonwealth of PA Geotechnical Engineer to oversee the Geotechnical Soil investigation work. Perform a sub-surface geotechnical soil investigation to determine the safe soil bearing capacity design values at 5, 10 ™, 20 ™, 30 ™, 40 ™ and 45 ™ depths. Deeper borings shall be performed at the direction of the Licensed Professional Engineer overseeing the boring operations. The Contractor shall perform the first 4 ™ to 6 ™ of each subsurface investigation or boring with a hand auger. If rock is encountered, 10 ™ deep rock cores shall be performed. Sampling for rock cores shall consist of 5 foot core runs with >80% core recovery. A Rock Quality Designation shall be provided for the rock sampled. Rock cores may be deeper as required by the Licensed Professional Engineer overseeing the work. Provide a State Licensed Professional Engineer Sealed and Signed œSoil Investigation Report detailing the results of the soil borings and testing operations for the parameters listed in the attached Guidelines for Preparation of a Soils Report. The work includes subsurface investigation, findings, foundation design recommendations and a report for the site. All reports shall be signed and sealed by an experienced State Licensed Professional Engineer. The Licensed Professional Engineer shall be available after the reports are submitted to answer any questions from the Foundation Design Engineer regarding the soils report and findings. As part of your proposal include a copy of the license and the qualifications of the State Professional Engineer working on the project and the testing laboratory to be used for FAA Engineer review.
