Description

Purpose and Objectives: The intent of this Sources Sought Notice is to identify potential businesses especially any Small Businesses and SDVOSB offerors capable of providing Oxycodone and Buprenorphine Reagents as listed in the attached Statement of Need. These are for the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA 15215. Responses to this Sources Sought Notice should demonstrate the firm's ability, capability, and responsibility to provide the principal components of supplies listed in the attached document. Responses should include the following information: Business name, address, Point of Contact, Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business info and if they are an authorized distributor of the items. All information is to be submitted via e-mail at Ronald.Kline@va.gov. Information provided will not be returned. All responses shall be in the English Language. Responses are due by 12:00 pm (EST) on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. No submissions will be accepted after this date and time. Questions can be submitted electronically to at Ronald.Kline@va.gov. Service: Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, Core Laboratory Requestor: Erin Palmer, Supervisory Medical Technologist 412-360-6551 Control point: 080 Buprenorphine is a semi-synthetic opioid analgesic derived from thebaine, a component of opium. Buprenorphine resembles morphine structurally but has both antagonist and agonist properties.2 Buprenorphine has a longer duration of action than morphine and can be administered sublingually as an analgesic. Subutex ®, a higher dose buprenorphine formulation, is widely used in Europe and elsewhere as a substitution treatment for opiate addiction.3-5 Recently, the FDA has approved the use of Subutex and Suboxone ® containing buprenorphine as active drug, for the treatment of opiate dependence in the US. Oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opioid prescribed for pain management in patients with moderate to severe pain. It is similar to codeine and morphine in its analgesic properties but it is more potent than morphine and has higher dependence potential. The drug oxycodone is supplied as OxyContin ® (Oxycodone HCl) or in combination with aspirin (Percodan ®) or acetaminophen (Percocet ®).1 Drug abusers crush the pills into powder and snort them for faster effect which may result in a potentially fatal outcome. Microgenics oxycodone and buprenorphine testing with urine specimens is FDA and manufacturer approved to be used with Abbott analyzers. Materials will be shipped within 3 business days of ordering. Required items must be name brand or equal. The Chemistry Quality Assurance technologist (Kristi Roche) and Supervisor (Erin Palmer) will be placing the order. Monthly updates of materials shipped from the vendor will be sent via email to the Core Laboratory contact at VA Pittsburgh. Printed SDS will be available upon request. Continuing educational opportunities will be offered by the contractor. Electronic copies of procedures will be provided on disc. Freight charges will be the responsibility of the contractor. 4.
